Wichita, KS, November 26, 2018 – DelaneMD is now helping people permanently lose weight and better manage weight-related disease. Owned and operated by Delane Vaughn, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician, DelaneMD offers life coaching with an experienced doctor who is solely focused on helping clients achieve their health and wellness goals.
“I want to help people prevent diseases through lifestyle modification,” said Dr. Vaughn. “Life coaching allows me to address the underlying thoughts and feelings, which are the cause of unhealthy actions like overeating and ultimately preventable diseases, like diabetes and high blood pressure.”
Based in Wichita, DelaneMD offers life and weight coaching nationwide through virtual interactions with a licensed medical doctor. Coaching programs include individual or group sessions with exchanges through e-mail, video conferencing and online platforms. Curriculum includes education, goal setting, protocols for lifestyle modification and guided thought-work.
“People often need a coach in addition to their doctor,” explained Vaughn. “Coaches push you to be your best by providing constructive feedback, encouragement and challenging fixed beliefs.”
Life coaching professionals specialize in helping people to achieve their potential. Some life coaches have a broad focus, while others specialize in areas such as finance, career and relationships. As a medical doctor, Vaughn’s area of specialization is weight loss, wellness and disease prevention.
Vaughn continued, “As physicians, we typically inform our patients about risks and tell them to lose weight. Then, we are surprised when our patients fail. Addressing the underlying reasons for overeating takes more time than a 15-minute doctor appointment.”
DelaneMD acts as a consultant, helping clients to make necessary lifestyle changes that improve quality of life. Life coaching through DelaneMD is not a replacement for your primary care physician. Dr. Vaughn recommends everyone establish and receive routine care with a primary care physician.
During the four-month coaching program, Vaughn teaches clients how to manage thoughts and food choices. Her curriculum includes nutrition, developing sustainable eating protocols, dealing with emotions that drive eating behaviors, and understanding the underlying reasons for eating. According to Vaughn, the body’s physiological response to eating is one reason weight loss efforts are undermined.
Vaughn points out, “Many diseases, like diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, are correlated with excess body mass. Therefore, we frequently focus on weight loss, however coaching isn’t exclusively for weight loss. Weight may be an easily measured goal, but we focus on overall wellness.”
According to Vaughn, sustained weight loss isn’t easy and takes constant vigilance. A life coach can help you stay motivated and on track with your plan. To learn more about DelaneMD and life coaching contact Delane for a free mini coaching session at [email protected] or call (316) 941-6334.
